About MVS (Mikolongwe Vocational School)
DAPP has 4 main sectors of operation, one of which is the education sector under which Mikolongwe Vocational School (MVS) falls.
MVS was inaugurated in 1997. More than 8,000 students have graduated in different trades being offered by the institution. Some of the courses being offered include tailoring, textile and fashion design, plumbing and WASH technician, renewable energy and electrical installation, carpentry and joinery, community development, saloon and hair dressing just to mention but a few. The institution offers its training courses through 3 modes namely on-campus, satellite and mobile.
On-campus enrolment capacity is 205 boarding students of which more than half are girls. Students are being trained within DAPP’s Teacher Training Colleges premises for the satellite mode whilst for mobile students are trained in a particular district at a given time. So far 3 mobile cohorts have graduated from Thyolo (Masambanjati), Mwanza (Thambani) and Neno districts.
Some of the school’s graduates have been employed by different companies / organizations while another group is self-employed in their localities.
